Melvyn Charles

Charles played for Wales, helping the nation qualify for the 1958 world cup finals and represented them in the world cup. He started his domestic career playing for his local team, Swansea Town, making over 250 appearances between 1952 and 1959 for them. In March 1959, Charles signed for Arsenal for a fee of £40,000 and really only became a regular in the Arsenal team during the 1961 – 1962 season after suffering injuries. After a successful spell playing for the Gunners, Charles played for Cardiff City before ending his career with Port Vale.

John Toshack

Toshack started off his successful playing career `at Cardiff City, making over 175 appearances for the Bluebirds. Toshack is arguably one of the finest ever players to have played for Wales. During his successful career he made 40 appearances for his nation and scored 12 goals for Wales.
He played his football with Liverpool, winning many domestic trophies with the club, including the league title. He also starred for Swansea City late on in his playing career, between 1978 and 1983. After a great playing career he went on to manage many clubs, including, Real Madrid, Sporting Lisbon and the Welsh national team.

Ivor Allchurch

Allchurch made his international debut in the year 1951, in an encounter against England. He was a member of the Welsh football team that took part in the 1958 world cup finals held in Sweden. He played his domestic football for various clubs, including, Newcastle United, Cardiff City and Swansea, scoring more than 250 goals in his career. He is arguably Wales greatest ever football player.
