Cardiff City endured a very disappointing season during the 1994 – 1995 campaign as they once again suffered relegation back in to the fourth tier of English football as they finished doff the campaign in 22nd position and in turn demoted the club out of the division.
The 1995 – 1996 season proved to be a debacle for Cardiff City as they suffered a very embarrassing season, finishing it off in 22nd position, narrowly escaping relegation out of the football league. They stormed back in the 1996 – 1997 season as they finished it off in a much improved seventh position, however they failed to progress through the play offs. They were unfortunate to crash out of the FA Cup in the fourth round during the 1997 – 1998 campaign as they suffered defeat on penalties against the Royals. The bluebirds were awful in the third division once again finishing towards the relegation zone in 21st position, once again narrowly escaping relegation out of the football league.
